The AIAA Wright Flyer Project is indebted to the numerous people, companies, and organizations who have donated time, space, and materials that we have needed. The project has called several locations "home" over the past twenty years. From 1979-1994, the Northrop Corporation (now Northrop Grumman) allowed us the use of space at their plant in Torrance, CA. In 1994, the project moved to the International Die Casting plant in Gardena, CA. Toward the end of 1998, with the wind tunnel test approaching and final preparations being made to satisfy the requirements of NASA, we were housed in the Able Corporation facility in Yorba Linda, CA. Able (formerly Task) is well known in the Wind Tunnel testing community as the builder of six component strain gage balances; in fact, it was one of these balances on which we mounted our replica during the tests. Briefly in 1999, we were again guest of Northrop Grumman at the plant in Hawthorne, but the sale of that facility necessitated our relocation. We moved again in late 1999, to Microcosm Inc. in El Segundo, CA. August, 2005 found us on the move yet again, this time to Riverside Air Service, an FBO and Flight School at Riverside Airport (RAL). In January, 2006, Riverside Air Service became Zenith Flight Support We welcome visitors, but do request that you contact us prior to any visit. |
